How do I fly with my pet?
Always check with your veterinarian before you travel to make sure your pet is healthy enough to make the trip. Further, some states require that you show the airline a health certificate for your pet. This document, filled out and signed by a vet, assures that your pet is healthy enough to travel and is not carrying fleas or any contagious sickness or disease.

Ask your vet about anti-anxiety pills you can put in your pet?s food a few hours before travel to make them a little more relaxed during the stress of travel.

Each airline has different restrictions. You should call far in advance to make a reservation for your pet.

Most pet stores sell travel kennels. Airlines will only allow a pet on board with you if the kennel fits under your seat. Otherwise, the pet will travel with the baggage. If this is the case, consider purchasing a kennel that is big enough for your pet to stand and stretch. It should also include spill-resistant containers for food and water.
