How do I become a travel agent?
If you're interested in becoming a travel agent, there are various ways to enter the field.

1. Since you don't have to be certified, you can apply at a local travel agency even if you don't have any experience.

2. Since some travel agencies might require experience, ask them if they know where you can attend travel school.

3. Travel schools offer training courses that take a few months; these often include job placement services. Some travel schools teach and administer the Travel Agency Proficiency Test, a standardized test that is not required but can look good on a resume.

4. You can also volunteer at a local travel agency as a way to acquire some hands-on experience. This also will look good on a resume.

5. After you've had six months experience as a travel agent, you can go back to travel school to become a certified travel counselor, which is like a master's degree of the travel services industry. It's not required, but it can set you apart from your peers.
