How can I remove sticky price tag residue? |
Avoid this problem beforehand. If the package is not one that would melt easily, simply run a blow-dryer over it for around a minute. The heat should loosen the glue so you can lift the price tag off easily.
If the packaging is a smooth, shiny surface, you can get the sticky residue off with lighter fluid. Just a little on a paper towel, combined with a little elbow grease, will clean your package right up and make it presentable.
Besides lighter fluid, you can soak the price tag with baby oil to acheive the same effect.
If the surface is waterproof, let it soak in warm water for a while or even just put a damp washcloth over it. You might have to still play with it, but the label should eventually peel off.
On hard surfaces only, try rubbing it off with some peanut butter.
Rubbing alcohol is an effective yet less noxious alternative to lighter fluid.
