Liver: Childhood Liver Cancer                   More info on this condition
 Introduction
Childhood liver cancer is broken down into two types; hepatoblastoma and hepatocellular carcinoma.

Hepatoblastoma is most commonly seen in children under 3 and may be caused by an abnormal gene. Children of families who carry a gene related to a type of colon cancer may be more likely to develop hepatoblastoma.

Hepatocellular carcinoma usually occurs in male children between 10 and 12, but also in children from birth to age 4. Children infected with hepatitis B or C are more likely to develop hepatocellular cancer.
