| | Women usually will not notice any symptoms or signs in the pre-cancer and early stages of cervical cancer. Symptoms usually only appear when cancer has become invasive.
Any of the following could be signs and symptoms of cervical pre-cancer or cancer:
- An unusual discharge from the vagina, such as blood spots or light bleeding between or following periods.
- Bleeding after intercourse.
- Pain during intercourse.
If they do appear, signs and symptoms associated with cervical cancer are often ignored, because they tend to mirror symptoms of other conditions that may not, in the patient's mind, warrant medical attention. The longer cancer or pre-cancerous cells go undetected and untreated, the lower the chance that the cancer can be cured. Therefore, it is important to see a doctor immediately if you experience any of these signs or symptoms.
