Who Wins? Maybe I Won!

This week, Ask Jeeves is following Yahoo!'s footsteps with an innovative branding campaign on its homepage that features a bouncing "Wilson" volleyball that draws your eye toward an ad for the video release of "Cast Away" with Tom Hanks.

We've already been inundated with requests from reporters to comment on this and the previous Yahoo! Ford Explorer campaign, but long before those portals thought they'd cornered the creative market, iWon was pushing the barriers for creative advertising with its oversized iWon Click unit (206x278) -- used with great success by Gateway to personalize product inquiries -- and iAttract Flash-based unit, both introduced back in December 2000. A particularly cool use of the latter is a Maybelline campaign that not only "pours" cosmetics onto a page, but personally greets you in the foundation (if you're known to iWon's database). iWon, using its own creative technology, is also running a variation on the "Cast Away" effect
