The Duluth resident was named last week as a winner in the iWon Survivor trivia challenge, a sweepstakes tied to the popular CBS series.
Thomas, winner of a $1,000 prize, is now eligible for a $50,000 grand prize, and will be flown to New York in April.
Thomas said she enjoys the show but hasn't been a die-hard viewer. A stay-at-home mother, Thomas said she is usually getting her two children ready for a bath or bed when the show comes on at 8 p.m. With $50,000 on the line, she'll be watching the show now, one way or the other.
"I will definitely be taping it," said Thomas. "I will be asking friends and family if anyone has any previous shows taped."
Thomas entered the contest at its Web site, www.iwon.com. Thomas was asked five Survivor trivia questions, and she believes she answered four or five correctly.
She isn't sure what she'll do with the money, but Thomas knows who's spending it.
"I told my husband, 'It's mine,' " she said. "I'll probably just splurge and buy myself some nice things."
