Finding a site you need on the Web can be like finding your size on a sale rack – impossible. George Nimeh, a vice president at iwon.com, offers these zippy tips for express Web-surfing.
Keywords are crucial. Most Internet novices type in only one to three keywords, says Nimeh; just one or two more on the initial try can “net” you far better results.
If a search isn’t yielding what you want, try adding or replacing a keyword instead of starting a whole new search. Sometimes just rephrasing your query can vary results dramatically.
Use a Web directory instead of a search engine. Try yahoo.com, looksmart.com, or iWon.com, which offer well-researched synopses of various sites before you click on them.
