Chicago-based Everen Securities, Inc. is a full-service securities brokerage, serving more than 500,000 individual investors. Ranked the 12th largest brokerage firm in the U.S., Everen Securities is a fully-owned subsidiary of the Everen Capital Corporation. Through a network of 1200 investment consultants in 27 states, Everen's claim to fame is maintaining strong client relationships in local and regional markets, while providing the high-quality services and products offered by national brokerage firms. The firm operates primarily in California, Colorado, Illinois, Ohio, Texas, and Wisconsin. Though services to individual investors comprise the bulk of revenues, Everen also serves institutions, corporations, and municipalities, and provides equity and fixed income products, investment banking services, and other capital market products through 19 offices in the United States. The firm's impressive market penetration results from a shrewd move in 1990, when the firm consolidated and integrated operations with five prominent predecessor firms, creating a network of seasoned investment consultants.

Everen recruits experienced investment consultants in targeted markets, and selectively trains new investment consultants. Since interviews are conducted by managers, one Everen broker suggested talking to a few brokers in their first three years at Everen to get a complete picture of the firm. Employees confirm that Everen's "client-first" claims are not just lip service. One experienced broker noted, "I have found Everen superior in many ways. The culture is based on "what's right for the client?." Another broker said "The opportunity to build personal wealth while at the same time taking care of clients' needs is something Wall Street has unfortunately forgotten!" Despite praise for Everen's culture and practices, employees admit that Everen may not be the best place for beginners. One broker recommended coming to Everen as an established broker, noting, "Though Everen is one of the best firms I have worked for, the payout for new people is one of the worst." Hours and dress vary by location, though "formal dress with casual Fridays" tends to be the norm.
