Founded in 1981, Centennial Ventures invests in a variety of telecommunications, computer and information technology companies. Currently, the firm manages $770 million in capital through three funds, Centennial Funds IV ($102.5 million), V ($221.5 million) and VI ($400 million) as well as through its sidecar funds Centennial Entrepreneurs V and VI, and Centennial Strategic Partners Fund IV. Centennial, based in Denver, is Colorado's largest venture capital firm and also has an office in Houston.

Investment strategy

The company participates in seed, start-up and later stage investments. Generally, Centennial invests $250,000 to $500,000 in seed companies and $5 to $20 million in start-up and late stage companies. Many of Centennial's portfolio companies are located in Colorado or Texas, but the company does not have any geographic restrictions in its investing practices.

Centennial invests in companies within 4 subcategories of communications convergence: outsourced communications infrastructure companies such as Preferred Networks; Internet communications and media services companies such as VStream; broadband access companies such as ClearSource, Inc.; electronic technology and software companies such as HighGround Systems and Pine Cone Systems.
